It is with a great pride that the Kingdom of Morocco hosts the 1st Euro-Mediterranean Ministerial Conference on Transport, expected in Marrakech on December 15th, 2005 .
This event is organized with the European Commission and the British Presidency of the European Union in the context of the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Barcelona Declaration and that of the celebration of the year 2005 as the "Year of the Mediterranean ".
We hope that this conference will be an opportunity for the Euro-Mediterranean countries to assess their cooperation in the transport sector since the beginning of the Barcelona process and to promote future development of this partnership, with the objective of building an integrated Euro-Mediterranean transport system.
I Wish to all participants happy welcome in Marrakech, a pleasant stay in Morocco , and all success to the proceedings of the conference.
